Samuel Lugassy was born in Cannes, France.
After studying literature and economics, he began his career as a photographer in the early years of the new millennium. He first worked as assistant with fashion photographers in some of the famous Parisian studios, and then specialized in portrait photography both in the context of advertising and press commissions as much as for his own personal projects.
The question of identity
The personal work of Samuel Lugassy aims to understand the identity of his subjects by trying to grasp their inner being through their appearance and how they are defined from the outside.
Press & Exhibitions
The work of Samuel Lugassy has earned him numerous collaborations with some of the world’s greatest international publications such as: Der Spiegel, Les Cahiers du Cinéma, Figaro Magazine, Afrique Magazine, Le Magazine Littéraire… His personal projects have been exhibited principally in France and his series “Gymnast & Wrestler” was awarded the prize at the Sportfolio Festival in Narbonne.
